Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 4 5 6 converter install

Xtuners Converter wiring diagram:

- yellow wire - speedometer input signal

- white wire - speedometer output signal ( converted )

- green wire - not in use

- blue wire - ground ( 0 volts )

- red wire - 12 volts power supply

On this image you see the backside of the EVO 4 5 6 JDM 180 km/h gauge cluster which we want to convert to Ralliart 300 km/h by using our km/h to MPH converter. The flex board version is 688. This is the factory main board for the JDM version.

This is the converter itself. In the package you will receive one small polycarbonate piece with a hole in the middle. Don't discard it, because you will need it later.

The converter has 3M double sided tape on the back side. Remove the protective red stripe and attach the converter in the empty slot like shown on this image.

The red wire, which supplies 12 volts power, can be attached directly to the fuel gauge PLUS terminal like shown on this image.

The white wire ( converted signal ) must be connected to the speedometer input signal terminal, which is the bottom right screw.

Before you install the screw back on its place you need to put the polycarbonate piece.

This piece is an insulation material. It's role is to prevent signal mixing ( input vs output ). If not installed, the converter will not work. 

The blue wire is GROUND. It needs to be soldered on this spot.

The yellow wire is for the input signal. It has a solder spot on the board as well.

The next steps are critical for the successful completion of the installation. First, you need soldering iron with thin and sharp tip.

You also need soldering station with adjustable temperature. Recommended temperature is 400 degrees Celsius. You have exactly 2 sec to solder the wires. If the tip of the soldering iron remains in contact with the flex board for longer time, it will melt the board.

!!! if you have no experience with soldering, leave this to a professional or do it at your own risk !!!

This is how the final result will look like. You can put some insulation tape on the wires to hold them in place.

After a successful installation of the converter the only thing left to do is to install the 300 km/h dials. They can be ordered in the shop section. The speedometer will now read up to 300 km/h. Please note that this conversion will affect the ODOMETER readings as well. The ODO will start counting the daily trips and the total mileage of the vehicle in miles.
